2008 Spring Showcase Profiles: Part 7
June 13, 2008

Cliff Meece

High School: Champaign Centennial
AAU Team:
Illinois Elite
Class: 2010
Position:
Power Forward
Height:
6'7"
Weight:
195 lbs
Notes: Meece has good footwork in the post and good hands.  He does is good job of boxing out and jockeying for position inside and also rebounds well offensive.

Russell Burns

High School: Bolingbrook
AAU Team:
Illinois Speed
Class: 2009
Position:
Small Forward
Height:
6'5"
Weight:
196
Notes: A very good athlete with excellent size for a perimeter player.  Burns has a quick first step and handles and passes it well.  He needs to refine his shot mechanics and become more consistent shooting the ball from the outside but is a tough prospect.

Shayne Matthis

High School: Bloomington Central Catholic
AAU Team:
Team Illinois
Class: 2011
Position:
Point Guard
Height:
5'9"
Weight:
135 lbs
Notes: Matthis is small but has some go.  He shot the ball very well from the floor and, though he jumped forward when shooting, his shot kept falling.  He played very confident and aggressive.  His development of the next year or so will determine the level he plays at.

Daronte Tillman

High School: Bloomington
AAU Team:
Team Illinois
Class: 2010
Position:
Shooting Guard
Height:
6'4"
Weight:
200 lbs
Notes: A strong wing with long arms and good strength.  Tillman has been on the scene of basketball for a year.  He played physical defensively as he was often matched against a post player.  He rebounded and blocked shots and was solid driving to the rim.

T.J. Riggs

High School: Bloomington
AAU Team:
Team Illinois
Class: 2011
Position:
Shooting Guard
Height:
6'3"
Weight:
165 lbs
Notes: A long and wirey guard that looks to score the ball.  T.J. had some good moves to get himself in the midrange area which is his comfort zone.  He was good at pulling up from both elbows and, though his shot was off, it was obvious that he was very capable of knocking those shots down due to his shooting stroke and his confidence in his shot.  Riggs must learn to score better when playing off the ball as he is more of an off guard than a point.
