Preseason Class A All-State by Pat Benninger November 8, 2006
There are many top players in Class A basketball. However, five stand among the rest. Here is MidStateHoops.com's 2006-2007 Preseason Class A All-State.
1st Team All-State (Preseason P.O.Y.)
The most dominant player in Class A basketball and possibly the state. Fay had a healthy all around statline last year as he averaged 21.5 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 3.1 apg, and 2.8 bpg. He can shoot the ball, handle the ball, rebound, score around the basket, and is always a threat with the ball in his hands. Carlton earned himself the honor of becoming the first ever MidStateHoops.com Preseason Class A Player of the Year.

1st Team All-State
The biggest player in all of Class A basketball. Tisdale doesn't have the greatest team but has proven himself as one of the top players in his class. In the 2005-2006 season, the 7'1" center averaged 21.7 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 5.2 bpg, and shot 74% from the freethrow line. Hopefully, Michael can lead the Hawks farther than expected this winter.

1st Team All-State
Helped a balanced Central Catholic team to a 25-5 record averaging 9 ppg, 6 rpg, and 4 apg. Dunson proved himself as one of the elite Class A players this summer as he led his high school team past a ton of high quality opponents including Seneca, Farmington, and Hartem, as the only returning starter.

1st Team All-State
Led his team, along with St. Joseph (IN) freshman, Austin Peebles, to a third place finish last season, averaging 19.7 ppg, 4.1 rpg, and 2.5 apg. Kreps showed that he had the ability to lead a team, this past summer, as the Trojans beat a load of quality teams.

1st Team All-State
O'Rear may have had the best sophomore campaign of any Class A or overally player throughout the state of Illinois in the past decade. However, last year the future UNI Panther did not have the standout junior campaign that was expected. Though he had great numbers (18.8 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 3.7 apg, and 3.1 bpg), Lucas was unable to lead his team to victory when it counted. Hopefully this season, the 6'6" forward can help lead his team to more victories.
