Bloomington High School Playing Strong
The departure of former Bloomington High School head coach, Ron Rose, has not negatively affected the stellar play of the Purple Raiders at all this summer. In fact, it might have even done some good. Already, Bloomington has captured the Illini Invitation Summer Shootout title by going 5-0 as well as being crowned the runner-up at the Peoria Richwoods Summer Shootout; all of this without an official head coach. The Purple Raiders are led by 6'3" senior guard-Justin Bocot, 6'2" sophomore guard-D'mitri Riggs, and 6'5" senior forward-Lonnie Lawrence. However, a full roster has not always been needed as the team placed second at the Richwoods Shootout early this month without the help of Riggs, 6'2" junior-Tylon McAllister, and 6'1" sophomore-Tywon Howard. Other contributions for Bloomington have come from 6'5" senior guard-Cory Hainlen, 5'8" junior point guard-Kenneth King, and 6'0" senior wing, defensive specialist, Scott Ebo. During the 2006-2007 school season, look for 6'3" possible incoming freshman-Daronte Tillman, to also give Bloomington depth. Spot contributions could come from 5'8" senior point guard sharpshooter- Carl Davis. Bloomington will be featured next in the Illinois Wesleyan Shootout, which will be taking place this upcoming weekend.
