2007-08 Preseason All-State Teams by Pat Benninger November 4, 2007
Preseason All-State (P.O.Y.)
The Indiana commit is the state's top shooter. He has been a big time player in the postseason since his freshman year and isn't expected to let up now. He's earned himself a Big Ten scholarship and is now looking for a state title. As a junior, Roth put up 21 points and grabbed 5 rebounds per contest. Expect his number to be even higher for his final go around. If he and the Panthers are still alive in March there's a good chance his leadership and the coaching of Kevin Brown may get them a Class 3A title. He is your 2007-08 MidStateHoops.com Preseason Player of the Year.
Verbally Committed: Indiana
Matt Roth 6'3" / 190 Class of 2008
Position: 2
Washington Indiana Elite
Verdell Jones III 6'5" / 175 Class of 2008
Position: 1
Champaign Central Ft. Sooy-No Limit
Preseason All-State
The leader of what is expected to be a VERY solid Champaign Central team. As a sophomore Verdell averaged 19 points, 8 assists, and 4 rebounds. He a smooth point guard that can score and dish and is one of the nation's top uncommitted point guards. If Central is able to utilize their talent to the maximum potential and get to Peoria, Jones just may be your 2008 Player of the Year.
Considering: Kentucky, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma

Preseason All-State
Shumpert, who is considered byu many the state's best player, is obivously a first team All-State candidate. The question is can he lead the Huskies to a state tournament appearance? He's a great scorer and is playing with a high confidence level. Some have been skeptical of the 6'4" guard but he's out to prove his worthiness as one of the nation's top players.
Verbally Committed: Georgia Tech
Iman Shumpert 6'4" / 190 Class of 2008
Position: 2/1
Oak Park-River Forest Full Package
Ryan Hare 6'4" / 200 Class of 2008
Position: 2/3
Chicago Marshall Illinois Fire
Preseason All-State
Not many players have had a resume as impressive as Hare. The future Pac Ten wing has averaged 20 points for the last two seasons and has led Chicago Marshall in rebounding both years as well. Many have doubted his ability to be the star player on his squad as he played alongside Patrick Beverly (2006-07 SEC Freshman of the Year) and Mike Stovall (Oregon State) but MSH believes that he will be very successful again and has a strong chance of leading his team to Peoria.
Verbally Committed: Oregon State

Preseason All-State
A three year all-stater. The Northwestern commit has led his average talented team to three above par seasons. He isn't the most exciting player to watch but he's a proven winner and gets the job done. Nick averaged 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists as a junior.
Verbally Committed: Northwestern
Nick Fruendt 6'5" / 200 Class of 2008
Position: 3/2
Batavia Illinois Wolves
Lewis Jackson 5'9" / 165 Class of 2008
Position: 1
Decatur Eisenhower Indiana Elite
Preseason All-State
The state's second best point guard. Jackson is naturally gifted when it comes to athleticism. He's a Big Ten bound competitor and has a chance of leading his team to the state tournament. The four year starter averaged 15 points, 5.5 assists, and 3.5 rebounds last season.
Verbally Committed: Purdue
Preseason All-State
Dunigan is another four year starter. As a junior, the 6'10" monster averaged 17 points and 12 rebounds. He defintely has the size and skill along with the talent around him to help lead his team to a state tournament appearance. Many think that he is the state's only candidate, outside of Iman Shumpert, with a legitimate shot of earning a jersey at the McDonald's All-American Game.
Verbally Committed: Oregon
Michael Dunigan 6'10" / 240 Class of 2008
Position: 5
Chicago Farragut MeanStreets
D.J. Richardson 6'4" / 175 Class of 2009
Position: 2
Peoria Central Illinois Warriors
Preseason All-State
The Big Ten bound junior has definitely proven himself as the state's best junior and one of the top 5 players regardless of class. Richardson has taken his game to a-whole-nother level. He's a scorer who is looking to lead a team with average talent to an above average season. If anyone, he defintely has the ability to do it.
Verbally Committed: Illinois
