THE BEST IN ILLINOIS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL RECRUITING!

Class of 2009 Pre-Summer Player Assessments: Quad Cities

Joseph Bertrand 6'4" 170 lbs G - A deceptively quick guard with long arms, good athleticism, and a lot of potential.  Bertrand saw his reputation as a player really soar last winter after a few breakout performances with Sterling HS. He is no longer as highly regarded as he previously was but he is still a talented player working hard to become a better player.  Though he is being pursued heavily by a few Big Ten programs, it will be hard to pull Bertrand away from Southern Illinois, as Chris Lowery has good relations with the people around Joseph.

Eddie Bowling 6'7" 190 lbs PF - An athletically, trim built post who has good tools and potential.  Bowling is active on the floor and has made vast improvements in his two seasons at Rockford Auburn.  Last spring he joined Chicago Ferrari and it has taken his game to another level, especially his level of aggression.  Eddie has been improving both his face up and back to the basket game and will most likely end up at a school in the lower end of the mid majors.  He has a chance to be a solid player.

Kannon Burrage 6'1" 165 lbs WG - Kannon is the younger brother of one of the state's most underrated outgoing seniors-Kendall Burrage. He is underrated as well and his game is very similar to his older sibling's.  Kannon is a very good shooter.  He has the ability to light it up from the outside.  He's gaining poise on the floor and is beginning to improve his point guard skills as he will need to do if he doesn't grow much more.  Burrage has the ability to earn spot minutes at the mid major level and if he continues to improve, he may be able to do so at the high major level.  Playing at United Township and with Quad City Select on the AAU circuit, he isn't  exposed to a lot of college coaches and/or scouting services but it doesn't change the fact that he is a talented kid.  It would be a shame to see him fly under the radar as his brother did as both have respectable games and college potential.  Illinois has shown minimal interest, which in his case, is a good thing.
