Bawinkel to Transfer
Devan Bawinkel, who prepped at Winnebago two seasons ago, has decided to transfer from West Virginia. He was a member of the Illinois Wolves very strong 2006 class. The 6?5? guard felt as if he didn?t fit the system very well. After sitting the majority of last season and the hiring on a new coach, Bawinkel is looking for a system that will fit his style of play much better. In his high school years, Bawinkel was often thought of a poor man?s John Scheyer. He can handle the ball and shoot it. He?s long, tall, and makes plays. He led his team to back-to-back 2nd place state titles in his high school years. Currently, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Illinois-Chicago, and Richmond are all in the mix for possible transfer schools. The junior college route is still an option as well in which Highland CC in Freeport, Illinois is the frontrunner.
