2008's Leonard Is a High Major Sleeper!
There are plenty of talented prospects out there and believe it or not, the ones you hear of aren't always the best. Some elite level guards don't get their deserved exposure and fall under the radar even if somewhat recognize. This featured is a player that fits that mold to a tee...Jeremy Leonard. Leonard is a 6'2" 175 lbs point guard. He's good good strength and quickness and is poised on the floor. He handles it well and brings a lot of energy to the floor. His outside shooting ability and his passing skills are his two best assets but he is a solid all-around point guard. Last season, Jeremy attended De La Salle High School where he teamed with Elliott Brown and Derek Needham. During his junior season he posted 17 points, 7 assists, and 3 steals per game. He was very solid throughout the year but did not get the exposure that a guard of his caliber should have. Now he has transferred to Thornton Fractional North, a powerhouse south suburban high school that produced two division one players this past year including Demond Watt. On the AAU circuit Leonard competed with The Supreme Kings. "I played the point with the Kings early," stated Jeremy. "But they moved me to the two (guard) because I was scoring a lot." As far as recruiting goes, a lot of schools are in contact though none have offered. "I've been talking to Marquette, Illinois State, St. Louis, Eastern Illinois, Northern Illinois, and Cornell." MSH has stated on numerous accounts that we believe that Leonard can have a successful and productive career at both the high major and mid major level. He's a point guard that can distribute and score and combines it with good quickness, athleticism, size, and a strong body. So for those who aren't fully comprehending, HE IS A SLEEPER! Look for Jeremy to lead TF North this season and definitely expect more updates here at MidStateHoops.com.
