MSH Fall League Week 1 Full of Excitement!
by Pat Benninger
September 15, 2007

They said it was a fake! That it would never happen and that it wasn't all it was claiming to be.  But this Saturday, the critics were silenced...

The first week of action at this year's MidStateHoops.com's Fall League was outstanding!  With better than 125 prospects in the gym, there was tons of competition and excitement!  In addition, the crowd was full of scouts, college coaches, and a ton of more important persons regarding Illinois prep basketball.

D'mitri Riggs of The Diplomats faced off against Star Trak.  He had a solid showing putting up 21 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 assists.  Star Trak  featured a plethora of talent but was headed by Lewis Jackson who posted 29 points in the win.  DJ Richardson also joined Jackson.

Richardson also played earlier in the day with Roc-A-Fella.  He had an outstanding game scoring 24 points and pulling down 7 rebounds.  Springfield High School sophomore Isiah Hale assisted D.J. in the win as he scored 8 points as did 6'6" Deanddris Barbour.  6'0" Limestone freshman Donivine Stewart has really bulked up since last fall.  He dropped 8 points against Roc-A-Fella while playing upper division.

Romeo Johnson, a 6'4" 2012 Peoria, Illinois product scored 25 points while pulling down 3 rebounds and dishing two assists.  In the same matchup, 5'11" freshman Chasson Randle scored 16 points in a match against Johnson and 1st and 15th.

6'4" freshman Brandon Watson looked very good today.  He's got great strength and a very muscular build.  He played in the upper division and held his own on the interior.  He's got a great future ahead of him, especially if he grows a couple more inches!

Aftermath's Tyler Storm had a very good showing.  In addition to 16 points, he displayed his ability to affect the game in big ways though it might not show on the statsheets.  He hustled to the loose balls and got the defensive stops when it counted.

Bailee Ricketts of Galesburg High School scored 18 points for Ruff Ryders.  They faced off against Full Surface who featured a pair of talented Proviso East guards-Darwin Gage and Allen McGaha.

Jeremy Robinson and Andre Burleson, a chiseled 6'7" senior from Midland High School, paced Bad Boy in their matcup against Flipmode.  However, Mt. Zion’s 6'6" Mark Yelovich and 6'0" Caleb Long led Flipmode to victory.  Both had impressive performances.

Expect even move coverage with some marquee matchups in the coming weeks!
