MSH Fall League Week 6: Break Out the Champaign!
What a night for the Champaign Centennial backcourt! James Kinney played lights out in a showdown against Illinois-bound D.J. Richardson and Bad Boy team as did Rayvonte Rice. James recorded 36 points (including six 3-pointers) in route to leading Star Trak to a six point victory. For those who doubt Kinney's ability to make an impact at the Division I level in two years, look no further than his blue chipper performance this past Saturday. Though his high school teammate took the spotlight, 6'2" sophomore Rayvonte Rice was nothing short of spectacular. He put on a display offensively while assisting Kinney with a 25 point performance. Not many players, if any, throughout the entire 2010 class have shown the offensive skills that Rice has been displaying throughout the fall. Julian Washington added 16 points for Star Trak. Bad Boy got a strong performance from 5'11" Peoria Manual junior Kendall Brown who dropped a strong 33 points including three 3-pointers. Brown is beginning to emerge as one of the area's most underrated guards. He's a great kid with a great game. 6'9" Zeke Schreider posted 33 points as the Ruff Ryders pounded The Diplomats. Jarod Oldham contributed 19 points in the win while Lewis Jackson was big at distributing the ball. Billy Molinari scored 18 points in the loss. Aftermath had a 63-57 defeat over GOOD. 6'7" sophomore Kyle Dierkes posted 12 points in the loss. 6'2" Rock Island freshman Chasson Randle is certainly the real deal and if anyone tells you different, they're lying! He's been the most consistent performer in his division throughout the fall and scored another 23 points this past Saturday for Slip-N-Slide. However, it wasn't enough as 1st and 15th, led by Romeo Johnson, left with a 3 point victory. Darren Weeks also poured in 23 points as his team (Def Jam) faced off against DTP. DTP ended up winning the game by four mostly in part to the play of freshman Pierce Furgason. The 5'11" guard is a wizard with the ball and managed to score 18 points in the victory. So So Def came away with a victory over Cash Money. 6'3" freshman Josh Fenoglia had a respectable 17 points in the win.
