Rose Hot on the Recruiting Trail; IWU Lands Another Potential Division I Recruit
May 6, 2008

In just three short years, Illinois Wesleyan coach Ron Rose has done a heckuva job on the recruiting circuit.

Rose came to IWU from a high school program that was filled with talent.  Bloomington High School has helped to produce three Division I prospects in as many years from 2005-2007.  Because of this, it is obvious that Rose knows how to tell talent.

Currently, Rose has three 2008 commitments, two who were figured as surefire commitments.  Eric McCullough was a top ten post player in his class and featured six Division I basketball scholarship offers.  He blew up heavily throughout the 2007-08 high school season but opted to stay in town to play both basketball and baseball.  Jordan Zimmer, a 6’3” Class 1A guard from Delavan High School, posted an amazing season and also gave the Titans a commitment.

The latest of the recruits is 6’9” 260 lbs Ryan Connolly.  The sizey post from Lanphier High School in Springfield, Illinois saw a lot of Division I attention including increasing interest from Loyola-Chicago.  He recently committed as he felt most comfortable with the IWU program.

These three along with the addition of 2007 recruits, Travis Rosenkranz, Sean Johnson, Ed O’Callaghan, and Duncan Lawson (all of who were considered Division I level prospects out of high school) have proven Rose’s legitimacy as a high level recruiter.

It’s expected that Rose will continue his trend of high level recruiting with some surprising steals…only time will tell.
